How it Appears on Transcript: HVAC-115 The Air Conditioning Import Expert - A Project-based Learning Module
Detailed Description: This project-based learning module teaches concepts in HVAC and Entrepreneurship and picks up where the previous project-based learning module in the series left off. HVAC / ENTR -114
In the last module, The Filter Entrepreneur, Marcus started with nothing but an idea and a stack of furnace filters. He built a delivery route, converted customers to reusable filters, learned about business structures, insurance, and tax strategy, and eventually subcontracted his filter route to earn passive income while he focused on higher-value HVAC work.
One of the ideas we mentioned briefly was portable AC unit rentals. Marcus noticed something during his filter route: many of his customers did not have central air conditioning. Some had window units that were falling apart. Others had elderly parents in rooms that were too hot in summer and too cold in winter. Some lived in apartments where the landlord refused to fix the HVAC system.
Marcus also noticed something else: the people who needed climate control the most were often the people who could least afford to buy a new unit. A decent portable air conditioner costs $300–$600. A quality portable heater runs $50–$200. For a family living paycheck to paycheck, that is a significant expense — especially for something they only need for part of the year.
This module follows Marcus as he builds a seasonal climate equipment rental business. Along the way, we will learn about warehousing and storage, pest control, fire safety and liability, global manufacturing, international trade, tariffs, importing from China, wholesale buying, and the hidden economics behind every product you have ever purchased.
This is not just about AC units. This is about understanding how the entire world economy works — and where you fit in it.
